Two traders of Malian origin are attracted this Monday before the Criminal Chamber of Dakar for financing terrorism. They are Sina Ould Sidy Ahmed and Babacar Niangadou.

Sina Ould Sidy Ahmed is also suspected of having troubled liaisons with one of the perpetrators of the Grand Bassam attack in Côte d'Ivoire. Arrested by the Criminal Investigations Division (Dic) on February 23, 2017, he was placed under arrest warrant on March 10 of the same year for criminal association with a terrorist enterprise, financing of terrorism in an organized gang and support to a group or member of a group with a view to its participation in the commission of a terrorist act, money laundering.

His compatriot Babacar Niangadou is also accused of forgery for having obtained false Senegalese documents under the name Boubacar Niang. More than 3 billion FCFA passed through his account in two months.

In addition to the confiscation of his property and the ban on permanent residence, the prosecution requested 7 years of criminal imprisonment against Sina Ould Sidy Ahmed. As for Niangadou, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison and a fine for the value of the property seized, the confiscation of all his property and a ban on staying for 5 years and exercising an activity likely to generate income.
