The application of the provisions of the interministerial decree n° 08-1388/MF-MET-MATCL-MSIPC of May 14, 2008 on the creation of toll stations and fixing of the tariffs is fixed for March 1, 2021. This decision raises an arm of between the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Makan Fily Dabo and the public transport unions. After two postponements for the entry into force of the payment of the toll fee per passage, Minister Makan Fily Dabo has revised the date of application to March 1. But the two sides still can't reach an agreement. On Wednesday, February 17, 90% of carriers observed a work stoppage except for a few because of the non-agreement between them and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Issiaka Doumbia, administrative secretary of the National Union of Free Drivers and Drivers of Mali (SYNACC-RLM), indicates that this is not a strike, but a work stoppage, to alert the State to their cry of heart. “At the toll if a truck has 4 axles, the driver pays 2000 FCFA, if it is 6 axles 3000 and 8 axles 4000 FCFA there and back. Payment is made according to these axles,” explained Issiaka Doumbia. Knowing that the payment of the toll does not eliminate the checkpoint, the carriers pay 1000 FCFA at each checkpoint and at the town hall for each trip. Thus, the application of this decision will be a heavy burden on the carriers' backs.
