It raised a sum of 44 billion FCFA at the end of its issue by auction of assimilable treasury bonds (OAT) with maturity of 3 years and 5 years. Mali has requested 40 billion CFA francs on the WAMU financial market. It ended up with 83.362 billion CFA francs in global bids from investors, i.e. a coverage rate of the amount put out to tender of 208.41%. The issuer withheld 44 billion CFA francs and rejected the remaining 39.362 billion CFA francs, i.e. an absorption rate of 52.78%.
The bonds issued will be repaid on the first working day following the maturity date of 28 January 2024 for 3-year maturity OATs and 28 January 2026 for 5-year maturity OATs. As for the payment of interest, it will be made annually from the first year on the basis of an interest rate of 6% for 3-year OAT and 6.20% for 5-year OAT.
The sum obtained on the market will be dedicated to covering the financing needs of the Malian State budget. Recall that for the first quarter of 2021, the Malian authorities intend to raise 235 billion FCFA of public securities on the WAMU financial market.
