The director general of the Société Nationale des Mines “Sonamines”, Serge Hervé Boyogueno indicated that the Company plans to buy a total of 6 tons of gold from producers active in the country's mining fields during this year.

Sonamines is thinking of buying gold in order to launch an activity whose exclusivity is granted to it by the mining legislation in force in Cameroon. To be able to achieve its ambitions in terms of buying gold during the current year, Sonamines should spend more than 200 billion CFA francs. Serge Hervé Boyogueno believes that the gold purchased will allow the State of Cameroon to continue its project of building strategic gold stocks, in order to have reserves at the Bank of Central African States (Beac)
