A regional workshop on the TISstat statistical application took place in Cotonou from 15 to 18 November 2022. This workshop brought together 40 experts, statisticians and computer scientists from the eight member countries of UEMOA (West African Economic and Monetary Union).

In collaboration with the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has put at the disposal of the eight UEMOA countries a tool for collecting and processing international trade data called TISstat. Because trade is based on intangible and scarce data compared to merchandise trade.

The implementation of this application in all UEMOA member states was the subject of two days of discussion, training and two days of integration of real country data into the IT system. At the end of this workshop, the two partners celebrated their collaboration started in 2013. According to Namaro Yago, Director of the Statistical Centre of the UEMOA Commission, this is a “fruitful collaboration” to continue to allow the Union to be statistically ahead of the curve.
