The Minister of State for Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni, signed a $100 million financing agreement on 11 April 2023 with the World Bank (WB) in Washington. It was on the occasion of the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The financing of 100 million dollars, approximately 60 billion FCFA, is granted by the World Bank for the implementation of the “GBESSOKE” program. The “GBESSOKE” program set up by the Beninese government aims to diversify social services in order to intensify the poverty reduction system. In reality, “GBESSOKE” complements the four components (health insurance, training, micro-credit and retirement) currently being operationalized under the ARCH project, and will eventually impact nearly 3 million vulnerable

This program is intended to strengthen the Government's efforts to improve the living conditions of the population.
