The West African Economic and Monetary Union zone (UEMOA ) which brings together West African countries sharing the CFA franc, had 46 authorized electronic money institutions (EMEs) spread across 8 countries. Côte d'Ivoire is at the top of the list of countries. It is followed by Benin and Senegal.

Of the 8 West African countries with EME, Côte d'Ivoire is home to a total of 12 of these establishments, representing the largest number of establishments. Of the 12 EMEs that the country has, six are electronic money institutions themselves, while four are banks that have partnered with telecom operators and technical partners to issue electronic money, microfinance and the country's public treasury have also received this approval from EME from the BCEAO to operate on the

Ivorian market.

Benin and Senegal are both in second place with 7 electronic money institutions each.
