As part of the project "Support for the free movement of people and migration in West Africa", funded by the European Union, ECOWAS, and the Scale Up project, experts from Togo, Nigeria and Ghana are working to harmonize their professional skills standards in three craft fields in Lomé. These are plumbing, masonry and poultry farming.

It is through a 5-day workshop, started Tuesday in Lomé, that experts from these neighboring countries will work on the design of a regional reference framework of professions and that of professional activities.
"Togo will work on the poultry side, Ghana on plumbing, and Nigeria will work on masonry," explains Eké Odin, Togolese minister in charge of technical education and handicrafts.
The harmonized documents will ensure the validity of the various training certificates in these fields in Togo, Ghana and Nigeria. This, in order to facilitate the integration of young skilled workers from these different countries, when they migrate from one territory to another, to assert their skills.
