At the beginning of the year, the OCCRP (Organised Crime Corruption Reporters Project) published a report on the major arms contract signed by the Senegalese Ministry of ; Environment. In a recent press release, the government described this document as “unfounded allegations”.

An international network of journalists obtained an arms contract signed by the Senegalese Ministry of the Environment at the beginning of the year. This network concluded strong suspicions of corruption and overbilling. According to the report by the OCCRP journalist network, “there was no tender for this arms contract, it was not made public and it involves a supplier that is doubtful to say the least.” The document mentions a total of $77 million. This is a budget that far exceeds the needs of the Senegalese Ministry of the Environment to equip forest rangers, the experts interviewed by OCCRP judge.
