The International Organization for Standardization has granted two certifications to the Lagos State Education Quality Assurance Office for providing quality services in the state's education sector.

The Lagos State Education Quality Assurance Office becomes the first government education regulatory agency in Africa to be so certified. According to the Director General of the OEQA, Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, “the certifications (ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2018) came as a recognition of our achievements in regulating pre-higher education in Lagos State through the inspection, monitoring, evaluation, standardization and guarantee of good quality educational services related to teaching and learning.” For her, the certifications showed the significant progress that the agency had made in revolutionizing the education sector in Africa
