Cotton inflows to the ginning stage fell by 14% until September 1, 2022, as floods devastated billions of rupees worth of produce in Sindh, Punjab, and the Baluchistan, while the country is expected to fall short of this year's target of four million bullets, which required imports to keep the textile sector in business, according to data released on Saturday.

According to industry figures, around 1,539 million bullets were hit in ginning factories across the country. During the current season, textile factories have purchased nearly 1.324 million bales of cotton to date. Cotton arrivals from Punjab, the largest producer of silver fiber, jumped by 29% to 0.704 million bales while cotton arrivals from Sindh fell by 33% to 0.835 million bales. The flooding of cotton planning areas in key production areas would be the only reason that affected crop production. To date, the agricultural sector has experienced the most serious destruction in Sindh and Baluchstan. Up to 80% of Sindh's cotton has been destroyed, representing approximately 25% of the country's total cotton production.

According to an estimate shared by Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, former adviser to the previous federal government on agriculture, cotton production in the country is going considerably Decrease this year as 425 billion rupees or 2 billion dollars out of about four million cotton bales were destroyed by the floods. Punjab, according to estimates, lost 110 billion rupees out of 0.9 million bullets, Sindh 275 billion rupees out of about 2.9 million bales, while Balochsitan saw cotton production worth 40 billion rupees go down the drain.
