The coordinator of the Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thierry Mbulamoko, was received on November 7, 2022 on an E UN radio broadcast mission. He announced that its structure has entered the phase of defining its action plan and implementing it 2022-2026.

Thierry Mbulamoko deplored the low rate of convictions by the courts during trials involving corruption, money laundering and similar acts. The first challenge identified by the Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption in the Democratic Republic of Congo “is that of integrity, antivalues that have become an art of living.” He thus said that he would like “to have more convictions and more recovery of the proceeds of corruption, as well as financial crime.”

With regard to the last challenge relating to the legal framework, the coordinator of the institution believes that the legal arsenal should be supplemented by a special anti-trust bill -corruption, before insisting on the importance of a law to protect whistleblowers, witnesses and experts. He thus affirmed that by next year, the numerical results will be communicated to the public.
