Since January 2021 (+2.7%), industrial production has been steadily increasing, according to Financial Afrik. Industrial production in the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) recorded an increase of 8.5% during the month of March 2021 against 5.4% the previous month.

The increase in industrial production is attributable to the increase in production in the oil and textile sectors. The sector therefore recorded an increase of 8.5% during the month of March 2021 against 5.4% the previous month.
The trade turnover index in the WAEMU zone grew by 5.8% in 2021, after an increase of 1.4% the previous month. This surge is due to increased sales of petroleum products, electronic equipment and building materials.
