The French oil company TotalEnergies announced on Monday, July 25, that it had started oil production on the Ikike field. It is an oil perimeter housed on the OML 99 license, located about 20 km off the coast of Nigeria.

The completion of the Ikike oil field development work was announced at the end of May, by the Nigerian Content and Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB). “TotalEnergies is delighted to start production of Ikike, a project launched just a few months before the start of the Covid pandemic and whose success is due to the full mobilization of teams,” said Henri-Max Ndong-Nzue, Sub-Saharan Africa Director of L& rsquo; Exploration-Production for TotalEnergies. A peak in production of 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent is expected on the perimeter, by the end of this year. The Ikike field, which hosts approximately 70 million barrels of oil equivalent, is exploited via a joint venture including TotalEnergies.
