During the “Cocoa of Excellence 2021” competition in Rome (Italy), three varieties of cocoa +Made in Togo+ were awarded. These three varieties won two gold medals and one bronze, thanks to the Coordinating Committee for the Coffee and Cocoa Sectors (CCFCC), which took part in this competition.

The award came after the evaluation of 235 samples of cocoa beans received from 53 different origins. Togo thus rises to the top of the countries of Africa and the Indian Ocean, with these two gold medals. Only Cameroon, another country in sub-Saharan Africa, managed to win a gold medal. Note that the Cocoa of Excellence Awards celebrate and encourage quality and diversity through a culture of excellence in the cocoa sector, building on previous International Cocoa Awards.
