The African Development Bank aims to support efforts to accelerate the structural transformation of the Ivorian economy, through the establishment of sustainable infrastructure that is resilient to climate change.

The Bank will strengthen its actions in the development of the Ivorian road sector through the Programme for the de-isolation of cross-border and agricultural areas, as well as several multinational projects (Burkina Faso-Côte d'Ivoire-Mali, Abidjan-Accra-Lomé-Cotonou-Lagos). According to Joseph Ribeiro, Deputy Director General of the African Development Bank for West Africa, “the general objective of the Bank's Country Strategy Paper 2023-2028 for Côte d'Ivoire, in strengthening and continuing that of the 2018-2022 period, is to accelerate the economic diversification and structural transformation of the Ivorian economy, in order to increase growth. inclusive, sustainable, and resilient to shocks.”

Therefore, the Bank's actions will contribute to the ambition of Côte d'Ivoire, which has one of the most dynamic economies in Africa, to equip itself with 9500 kilometers of paved roads (the current line of paved roads is 7500 kilometers) and to improve the proportion of paved roads in good condition from 34% to 74%%.
