The Beninese government has launched its framework of green financing, intended to mobilize financial resources for projects related to the environment and climate. The announcement was made on Wednesday 3 September 2025.

The initiative of the Beninese government aims to channel capital into ten priority sectors: renewable energies, sustainable transport, energy efficiency, water management, adaptation climate, biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, buildings ecological, circular economy and waste management. A steering committee, placed under the authority of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will supervise the implementation of this green financing framework.

“This funding framework Green illustrates once again Benin's commitment to building an economy resilient and sustainable. It reflects our desire to integrate priorities climate and development in all financing policies audience. By aligning ourselves with the highest international standards, we want to attract global investors who want to participate in the Africa's green transition”, said the Minister of State in charge of Economy and Finances, Romuald Wadagni.
