The trans-Saharan fiber optic backbone project consists of the installation of a 1,510 kilometer fiber optic line to interconnect Niger, Algeria, Nigeria and Chad. Indeed, the Trans-Sahara Fiber Optic Ridge is a project that falls within the broader framework of the Multinational Trans-Sahara Fiber Optic Ridge Project. It will make it possible to considerably reduce the cost of economic and social transactions, break the digital isolation of rural areas and finally strengthen regional integration.

According to Mahamat Hassan Borgou, Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of Chad, “the Government of Chad has developed a strategic plan for the development of the digital economy 2020-2030, which is intended to be a futuristic vision that aims to maximize the impact of digital technology on our economy. I give you the assurance of the transitional president that our government will fulfill all its commitments to this project.”
