On the evening of Thursday, October 26, 2023, the World Bank Group and Burkina Faso signed two financing agreements in Ouagadougou. This is a loan of more than 163 billion FCFA granted by the Bank

The agreements fund two funding projects. The signature took place between the Minister in charge of Finance and the Directorate of Operations of the World Bank for Burkina, Mali, Niger and Chad. The first agreement will be used to finance the Secondary Cities Mobility and Urban Development Project (PMDUVS) whose objective is to improve, among other things, urban mobility, access to basic social services and economic opportunities. It is a project that is structured in four components (urban mobility services and infrastructures, urban infrastructure and basic services, institutional strengthening and the contingent emergency response component). The loan agreement amounts to 118 billion, 925 million FCFA for this project

The second agreement concerns the Regional Women's Empowerment and Demographic Dividend Plus Project (SWEED+). It aims to increase girls' and women's access to learning, economic opportunities, and the use of health services and to strengthen institutional capacity across the region for gender equality. The loan granted for this project is 63,530 billion FCFA.
