Ship tracking data mentioned that Singapore, Asia's oil hub, will receive its first shipment of low-sulphur direct distillation oil (LSSR) this week exported by the new Nigerian refinery in Dangote.

The receipt of LSSR from Singapore marks a new trade flow from the newly commissioned refinery to Asia, a region that structurally lacks low-sulfur fuel oil, needed to meet the demand for refueling ships in Singapore, the world's largest refueling platform. The Dangote refinery can refine up to 650,000 barrels per day (b/d) of products and will be the largest in Africa and Europe when it reaches full capacity. The refinery has been exporting more LSSRs since March, with most of these cargoes landing in America and Europe so far. LSSR is typically blended with other fuels to produce LSFO bunker fuel, or used as a feedstock in refining processes
