The Ivorian Prime Minister Patrick Achi has launched the development of the “Akwaba” junction in the commune of Port-Bouët (Abidjan), which symbolizes welcome to one of the Ivorian ethnic groups (Akan). He waited for a five-branch exchanger estimated at 26 billion FCFA and financed with a loan from the World Bank.

The infrastructures under construction will be delivered in June 2024 and must streamline traffic in four directions (Bassam, Port Bouet, Airport, Boulevard de Marseille). The work carried out during the priority phase of the project includes the construction of the main structure, the development of a 3-lane roundabout connecting the four (04) axes, the construction on deep foundations to cross the urban train and to manage the intersection with Rue Atlantique Caraïbes, etc., according to the Minister of Equipment and Road Maintenance, Amedé Kouakou.

According to him, the completion of this work will also facilitate the “Abidjan-Lagos Corridor” project, whose toll bridge has been installed in the city of Grand-Bassam.
