BP Ventures has invested to support a startup that is developing technology to use heavy industry vapors to significantly reduce the costs of producing carbon-free hydrogen.

Green hydrogen, produced by the separation of water by electrolysis using renewable energy, is expected to play a key role in decarbonizing transport and industries. Indeed, the investment will allow Advanced Ionics to accelerate the small-scale deployment of its steam electrolysers for heavy industry. In fact, the venture capital arm of the British energy giant was one of several investors in a $12.5 million Series A financing from the American company Advanced Ionics according to the two firms on Tuesday. Other investors include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Clean Energy Ventures, and Gatemore Capital Management
