The former CEO of the financial equipment company in Senegal, of Bank of Africa in Niger and Mali, Mamadou Sène, has released a new book entitled "The bank explained to all: focus on Africa". Published by “RB-Edition. This book dissects the notions of bank identity statement (Rib), international bank account number (Iban) and bank identifier code (Bic).

Mamadou Sène reminds that the Rib contains all the information which makes it possible to identify each account in a precise and complete manner. This is the name of the bank, the branch and the city where the account is taken, numbers and letters: 24 in Uemoa, 23 in France; the name and address of the account holder; the Iban (International bank account number), represented by a series of numbers and letters.

The Bic represented by a series of letters, the international identifier of the bank, allows the identification of a bank with the international organization of management of the registration of Bic.
The 24 numbers and letters of the Rib in the Uemoa break down as follows: The bank code of 5 alphanumeric characters is the identifier of the bank and its residence. The branch code, also called branch code, made up of 5 numeric characters is the identifier of the branch where the account was opened.
The account number of 12 numeric characters makes it possible to distinguish the customer code (6 characters) and the type of account (6 characters). The Rib key (2 numeric characters) is used to verify the validity of the account
