The pan-African development institution will support Senegal in strengthening its transport infrastructure and regional integration. On Monday, April 19, the AfDB released its Country Strategy Paper (CSP 2021-2025) for Senegal. According to the five-year plan, the financial institution plans to rehabilitate 500 kilometres of paved roads and build 100 kilometres of paved roads, as well as related social and economic developments.
"The Bank's interventions will improve access to and quality of transport services: for paved roads, from 82% in the "good/medium" index in 2019 to 85% in 2025, and for unpaved roads, in "good/medium" from 55% to 60% over the period," indicates the AfDB.
It should be noted that the Bank is already contributing to the financing of the construction of the Rosso Bridge (between Senegal and Mauritania) – which should reduce the crossing of the river to two minutes – and the Farim – Tanaff road (Senegal-Guinea Bissau) which will improve the logistics performance index by 2.32 in 2019. to 2.60 in 2025.
