At the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors of the African Medical Center of Excellence (AMCE Abuja) held in Cairo, Egypt on October 6, 2023, Benedict Oramah was appointed to the position of president. The council also set the schedule for its first pan-African medical conference scheduled for next year

The African Medical Center of Excellence (AMCE Abuja) is created by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). Professor Benedict Oramah's appointment reflects his significant contributions and vision for the project, as well as his exemplary leadership qualities, which led Afreximbank to remarkable growth. Its mission is now to provide world-class medical care, conduct innovative and groundbreaking research, facilitate development initiatives, and offer educational programs in collaboration with reputable international organizations

The AMCE Abuja Board of Directors now consists of Professor Ghulam Mufti, Professor Adedayo Onitilo, Dr. Anwar Alhaq, Emmanuel Assiak, Brain Deaver, Dr. Zahoor Khan, Dr. Aisha Umar, Arc. Namadi Sambo, Amr Kamel, Oluranti Doherty, Olusola

In addition, the first pan-African medical conference will be held in the first quarter of 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria. This conference will serve as a unique platform for African leaders, researchers, policy makers, and stakeholders to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities in medical and scientific fields with the aim of increasing awareness and collaboration in research, innovation, and public health across the continent.
