Deliveries of these devices are scheduled for 2027 and are part of the as part of the vast expansion plan undertaken by the company.
“This agreement is fully in line with the ambition Royal Air Maroc's strategy to become a leading global connector blueprint. The Boeing 737-8 will enhance our network development capabilities, allowing new road openings and an increase in frequencies, with greater operational efficiency”, said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of RAM.
Presented in 2023, the company's expansion plan plans to quintuple its fleet to exceed 200 aircraft by 2035, compared to fifty currently. This rise in power should support the expansion of the network, through the opening of new lines and the densification of international and domestic connections. Royal Air Maroc thus aims to transport 31.6 million passengers per year, compared to 7.2 millions today.
Beyond the airline's own strategy, Royal Air Morocco plays a central role in the national development policy of air transport and tourism. The Cherifian Kingdom is aiming for air traffic close to 90 million travelers by 2035, compared to 36.3 million in 2025, as well as a target of 26 million tourists by 2030, compared to 19.8 millions registered last year.
To support this dynamic, the Moroccan authorities
deploy an ambitious investment plan aimed at expanding and modernising
airport infrastructure. Among the flagship projects is the
construction in progress of a new terminal with a capacity of 20 million
passengers at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca. Once completed, this project
should bring the total capacity of the country's main platform to 35
million travelers per year by 2029.
