Interfected with Radio Okapi on Tuesday, March 26, the president of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Congo (ASAR), Vincent Mwepu,  said that the insurance industry received about $221 million in premiums, in 2021.

"In 2021, there were about $221 million in premiums. So, the state has an interest in regulating the insurance sector because the more premiums you have, the more taxes you pay and the state has more money on the one hand. The more premiums we pay, the more capital we will have to invest in projects, or deposit in banks that can give more credit to their customers." Vincent Mwepu thus invites the State to regulate this sector that generates revenue for the public treasury. It also estimates that if the insurance industry is well regulated, it can generate around USD 800 million in premiums or more for the country.
