The African Development Bank (AfDB) has granted Senegal a loan of €121 million to implement an emergency agricultural program for 850,000 small farmers.

The program aims to improve access to certified seeds, advisory support but also access to fertilizers, and finally improve governance and deployment public policies in the agricultural sector. 350,000 additional hectares will be covered for an additional production of 60,000 tons of cereals, 120,000 tons of cowpeas and 150,000 tons of potatoes. This loan is the first to be approved under the bank's $1.5 billion African Emergency Food Production Facility, set up to address the food crisis threatening Africa, partly as a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine
