As part of its strategy to cover the financing needs of its budget, the State of Senegal, through its public treasury, raised on August 14, 2020 on the financial market of the West African Monetary Union (WAMU) an amount of 55 billion FCFA (82,500 million euros) at the end of its issuance by auction of assimilable treasury bills (BAT) of maturity 364 days.
The total amount put out to tender was CFAF 50 billion. But at the end of the operation, the WAMU-Securities Agency recorded 67.148 billion FCFA of bids from investors, i.e. a coverage rate of the amount put up for auction of 134.30%.

On the amount of the bids, the issuer retained 55 billion CFA francs and rejected the remaining 12.148 billion CFA francs, i.e. an absorption rate of 81.91%.  It should be noted that the Senegalese government's intentions to issue public securities for the month of August 2020 amount to 50 billion CFA francs.

The securities issued will be repaid on the first working day following the maturity date of August 15, 2021. On the other hand, interest is payable in advance and deducted from the nominal value of the vouchers, which is one million FCFA.
