An agreement has been signed between Atlantic Group and subsidiaries of Barrick Gold Corporation for the acquisition of the Tongon gold mine, located in the North of Côte d'Ivoire, as well as several exploration permits adjacent. It was last Monday, October 6.

The acquisition of the Tongon Gold Mine marks a major step for the Ivorian and African mining industry, constituting the first transfer of a world-class gold asset to an industrial player local in Ivory Coast.

Through this transaction, Atlantic Group reaffirms its desire to invest sustainably in the Ivorian mining sector in focusing on sustained exploration programs to extend the duration of mine life, operational excellence and cost optimization, a contribution to the strengthening of foreign exchange reserves and value creation increased for communities and the Ivorian economy.

According to the president of Atlantic Group, Koné Dossongui, “The acquisition of the Tongon gold mine is a milestone historic for our group and for Côte d'Ivoire.
