The managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari indicated that Nigeria would start exporting petroleum products to other countries starting in 2024. The country is in the midst of a fuel crisis.

The theme around which the 2023 Energy and Work Summit of the Nigerian Petroleum and Natural Gas Executives Association (PENGASSAN) focused is “Deregulation of the Downstream Oil Sector and Use of Gas”. According to Mele Kyari, Nigeria is facing market adjustment and it is very good for the country for market forces to take control, while the government is playing its own role in ensuring that palliatives are available. “I firmly believe that in 2024, this country will become a net exporter of petroleum products. This means that we will have enough volume in the country, and then we will have a delta that can leave our country and that is where the value is created,” said the managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
