Following a U.S.-Africa summit held in Washington at the end of 2022, on Monday, March 13, the White House announced that American Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia between the end of March and the beginning of April.

Harris is scheduled to meet with the presidents of the three countries to “discuss regional and global priorities, including our shared commitment to democracy, inclusive and sustainable growth, and food security.” After a visit in February by Jill Biden, the president's wife, to the Horn of Africa, the Democratic Vice President will visit the country where she discussed, among other things, the record drought and agricultural and food issues.

According to the White House, it must work to support “resilience and climate adaptation” in the region. The president then promised to visit sub-Saharan Africa, possibly as early as 2023, which would be the first visit at this level since Barack Obama.
