While its growth is limited on its domestic market, Maroc Telecom is preparing to strengthen the capacities of its subsidiaries in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Moroccan telecommunications company Itissalat Al Maghrib (Maroc Telecom) has invested in the construction of a new fiber-optic submarine cable. It has negotiated 375 million euros in financing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in order to support the activities of 8 subsidiaries in sub-Saharan African countries, including Mali, Niger, Chad, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon

noted that in the first quarter of 2023, the subsidiaries generated a turnover of 4.6 billion dirhams (about 473.5 million USD), up 7.3%, compared to 4.7 billion dirhams (about 484 million USD) for activities in Morocco (up 0.6%).
