Major Shell is expected to deliver its first LNG cargo ship to Ghana's new Tema LNG gas terminal in June. It has already set its rates with its client, the state-owned firm GNPC.

Ghana will soon be the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to import LNG via a floating regasification unit (FSRU), positioned in Tema since January 6. While the initial schedule was for a first delivery in March-April, Major Shell is expected to finally deliver its first LNG cargo ship in June to Ghana's new Tema LNG gas terminal.
Shell will sell its LNG at a price between $5 and $6.50/MMBTU, depending on the price per barrel of brent. The sole buyer, state-owned Ghana National Petroleum Corp (GNPC), will then deliver the gas to its customers, the country's power plants. The Tema LNG project is led by Tema LNG Terminal Co (TLTC), financed by the pan-African investment fund Helios Investment Partners and the Luxembourg-registered firm Gasfin Development.
