On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, an individual recognized for belonging to a terrorist group who wants to settle in Benin was sentenced by the Court for the Repression of Economic Offences and Terrorism (Criet) to 20 years in prison.

The GSIM (Islamic and Muslim Support Group) is a terrorist organization based in Burkina Faso and affiliated with Al-Qaeda. Within the association, Ousmane is designated as “local emir” or “emir of Benin”.

He was arrested in July 2021 by the Republican police while working with his cousin named Albani to set up a GSIM cell in Benin, precisely in the Dakoubouri village in Kouandé, Ousmane is fixed on his fate this Wednesday, November 16, 2022. La Criet thus sentenced him to 20 years in prison for “belonging to a terrorist organization”.
