On the night of 7 to 8 July 2022, two trucks carrying food products intended for export were stopped in Sokodé.

The intercepted cargo consisted of 25 tons of food products including 100 kg bags of gari and tapioca. Lieutenant Colonel Fioklou-Toulan Erick, Regional Customs Officer at the Centre, reassured that the goods will be handed over to the Ministry in charge of Local Consumption for further procedures. The seizure of these goods follows the entry into force a few months ago of a ministerial order prohibiting the export of consumer products, except with authorization from the Ministry of Commerce. This is the ^3rd time that products intended for export have been intercepted this year.
