On July 15, 2022, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group approved, in Abidjan, the granting of a budgetary support of US$ 5.39 million to Togo.

This grant should enable Togo to strengthen its food sovereignty and the resilience of its small-scale agricultural producers in the face of the effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has led to a sharp rise in the price of basic foodstuffs and inputs. Thus, 25,500 agricultural producers, 40% of whom are women, will receive 500 tons of certified climate-resistant seeds and 7,700 tons of fertilizers. They will also be supported in the development of 25,500 additional hectares of land and will receive regular agro-climatic information to help them cope with the effects of climate change. In total, nearly 120,000 people will see their food and nutritional security reinforced.
