Agents from the Indénié-Djuablin Regional Customs Directorate in Manzanoua seized more than 35 tons of cocoa beans, transported in a truck conveyed about 40 km from Abengourou.

A total of 500 bags, or 35.5 T of product, were transported by the 60 T truck. Indeed, some bags were stamped “Ghana Cocoa Board Produce of Ghana”, the equivalent of the Coffee and Cocoa Council in Côte d'Ivoire. These bags have been returned to hide the origin of the product. It should be noted that the bags were unloaded by the fraudsters at the headquarters of one of the cooperatives in the village of Manzanoua.

According to the regional director, Colonel Ousmane Sanogo, the customs agents of Abengourou, on instructions from the Director General, General D. Pierre Alphonse, took the steps to search, identify and seize the truck. in question on Saturday, 10 December, and of arresting two people after learning of the presence on Ivorian soil of a truck loaded with cocoa from Ghana. For Sanogo, other trucks positioned at the border had to turn back after this first seizure.

Present in Mazanouan to have the truck transported to Abengourou in the presence of the sub-prefect of Akoboissué Adjoua Alexandra Kouassi, said “it is difficult to understand that our farmers produce cocoa that we refuse to buy and are going to buy cocoa in Ghana with the CFA the currency Ivorian to enrich Ghana at the expense of producers Ivorians”.
