In partnership with the state government, Oando Clean Energy Limited said in a new update on the planned deployment of its electric transport buses in common in Lagos.

Lagos residents would take an electric Rapid Transit (BRT) bus by 2023. Oando Clean Energy Limited is a renewable energy subsidiary of the Oando Group. During a webcast session organized by EY Nigeria, on “Climate change and its implications for the Nigerian energy sector,” the Executive Vice President, Oando Clean Energy, Mr. Ademola Ogunbanjo, briefed on the ongoing project for Lagos. He added that the proof of concept for electric buses The rollout in Lagos would begin in January next year.

The federal government has however called for the collaboration of private sector actors in the implementation of the 2021 law. This law is based on climate change.

On April 28, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Oando in collaboration with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to introduce the digital transport bus in common to Lagos, Nigeria's commercial nerve center.
