United Bank for Africa (Uba) Plc has published its 2022 annual sustainability report. The report provides an overview of the bank's commitment to environmental, social, and governance (Esg) performance and practices.

Chidozie Ezike, head of the sustainability desk at United Bank for Africa, was delighted with the results Uba achieved in 2022. The bank trained more than 8,533 people, while supporting more than 22,000 small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers with access to SME financing in 2022, an increase compared to the 5,000 SME customers supported in 2021. For the latter, “it is also worth mentioning the Braille account opening form, designed to engage the visually impaired, an initiative that is the first of its kind in Africa and in the field of supporting the SDGs, 21,500 people were reached by the UBA community food program in 2022, compared to 1,300 people in

2021.”
