At the end of 2019, the credit institutions of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) mobilized resources totaling 33,129.6 billion CFA, which thus increased by 11.4%, indicates a new report of the BCEAO, the central bank common to the countries concerned.

Deposits and borrowings, which represent 84.1% of these resources, are experiencing “an annual increase of 10.8%, standing at 27,836.7 billion at the end of 2019”, notes the report of the Banking Commission.

The cash position of credit institutions in the Union remained in deficit, falling from -2,945.0 billion at 31 December 2018 to -2,773.4 billion at the end of 2019, an improvement of 171.6 billion (+5.8% ).
As of December 31, 2019, the Union's net banking income (GNP) stood at 2,057.3 billion, up 4.3%, on an annual basis.
