The President of the Republic of Niger, Issoufou Mahamadou received in audience the President of the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), Abdallah Boureima on Friday, February 12. The President of the WAEMU Commission paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic. At the end of the exchanges, he indicated that he had presented to the Head of State, the state of the UNION; a union which, he argued, has recently been facing a security, health and economic crisis.
According to Abdallah Boureima, governments, institutions such as the WAEMU Commission and technical and financial partners "are working to provide short- and medium-term solutions related to the damaging consequences of this triple crisis, particularly at the social level".
"I took the opportunity to congratulate the President of the Republic HE Issoufou Mahamadou for the quality of the organization of the electoral process underway in Niger since December and which will be closed on February 21, 2021," he said. Other specific points were raised including the next WAEMU summit to be held on 25 March 2021.
