The launch brought together participants from member states including Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Senegal, countries covered by the project. The project aims to promote an innovative approach to sustainable waste management, including Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), mercury and greenhouse gases, through the environmental, social and economic recovery of waste in WAEMU countries.

It will promote the best available techniques and best environmental practices in waste management, in order to eliminate the release of dioxins and furans, carcinogens and mercury.
