The Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) reported that the number of livestock in the UEMOA zone increased by an average of 113.45% with a range of 51.61% to 179.47% over a 20-year period ranging from 2001-2021

The Commission reports in its Department for Agriculture, Water Resources and the Environment (Daren) that the number of livestock increased from 90.43 million head in 2001 to 148.68 million in 2015 and 193.02 million in 2021. According to Daren, the poultry supply is also growing. Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, and Togo experienced increases of 186.14%; 261.70%; and 184.83% respectively, thus showing the largest increases in live poultry stocks. Noted that milk, egg and meat productions in tonnes show an upward trend, with variations of 81.32%, 67.78% and 76.82% respectively between 2001 and

2021.
