On Saturday, April 12, 2025, a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed an evaluation mission of two ongoing programs with Benin.

Après dix jours de discussions et d' analyses menées dernièrement, les autorités béninoises et les experts du FMI ont trouvé un terrain d' entente sur the sixth review under the Mechanism Extended Credit and Extended Credit Facility and the third review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility . As before, Benin ticks all the boxes with, this time, results well above the objectives and forecasts. Thus, the country will benefit from a disbursement of more than 66 billion CFA francs by June

.

Several patterns are at the center of this agreement. First, the IMF congratulates Benin, which saw its economic growth reach 7.5% in 2024, well beyond the initial forecasts set at 6.5%. This leap forward is largely driven by the dynamism of agriculture, agro-industry, infrastructure projects, and also by the tertiary sector and information technologies

.

The IMF also highlights the country's fiscal discipline. According to the institution, Benin managed to respect, a year in advance, the deficit standard set at 3% of GDP in the UEMOA area

.

For these good results, Benin expects a disbursement of 115 million dollars for both programs. 80 million dollars are intended to finance climate action policy.
