Benin has obtained a loan of 507.5 million euros over 15 years to support its sustainable development program. This funding came through the country's Ministry of Economy and Finance

Insurance for Trade and Investment Development in Africa (ATIDI) announced, on April 7, 2025, in Nairobi, in a press release, that it had supported the latest financing operation of the Republic of Benin, by providing a “second loss” guarantee ; for the loan of 507.5 million euros granted by Deutsche Bank. This operation benefits from a Partial Risk Guarantee (GPR) of 200 million euros provided by the International Development Association (IDA) and a “second loss” insurance coverage of a maximum amount of 614 million euros (principal and interest) by the Insurance for the Development of Trade and Investment in Africa (ATIDI) by the Insurance for the Development of Trade and Investment in Africa (ATIDI) throughout the duration of the loan.

According to Manuel Moses, Director General of ATIDI, “this historic financing illustrates the power of strategic partnerships in generating sustainable investments for the benefit of African economies. Our collaboration with Deutsche Bank to support the Republic of Benin has highlighted the essential role of ATIDI in facilitating innovative financial solutions that strengthen fiscal resilience. By providing a “second loss” guarantee, we are helping to provide Benin with long-term and cost-effective financing, thus strengthening its economic stability while channelling resources towards the achievement of its sustainable development goals
