On the occasion of Earth Day, the Bank of Africa (BOA) announced its membership in the African Natural Capital Alliance (ANCA). It thus becomes the first banking institution in Morocco and the MENA region to join the pan-African platform dedicated to sustainable finance

BOA's membership in ANCA is in line with the group's commitments to nature and biodiversity. The institution plans to finance the environment respectfully, while reaffirming its desire to support “nature-positive” African economies. The initiative aims to “strengthen the recognition of risks and opportunities related to nature within the financial sector”. According to Brahim Benjelloun-Touimi, CEO of Bank of Africa, “this partnership will make it possible to take advantage of ANCA resources and networks, as well as to have a lasting impact on financial inclusion and entrepreneurship

By joining ANCA, Bank of Africa is part of a continental network of actors committed to a systemic transformation of the African financial sector. Its objective is to put capital at the service of nature, not the other way around.

noted that ANCA was created in 2022 by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in partnership with FSD Africa. It is intended to be a “collaborative forum led by stakeholders in Africa to mobilize the response of the financial community and entrepreneurship across the continent.”
