The Food System Resilience Program (Prsa-Fsrp) was officially launched on Friday 25 April in Diamniadio by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock of Senegal.

Prsa-Fsrp has a financing of 153 billion CFA francs. Its objective is to strengthen the resilience of agricultural and pastoral systems and to create jobs for young people and women. The program, which will last for 6 years, is the result of collaboration between the State, the World Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He will be responsible for responding to the challenges of the agricultural sector. Minister Mabouba Diagne made a diagnosis of the ills that are undermining the Senegalese agricultural sector. These include excessive dependence on food imports, endemic youth unemployment, and the growing threats of climate change. “The program I am launching today is a turning point in the life of our nation,” he said. According to the latter, it is no longer a question of half-measures or palliatives, but of a clear break with the “mistakes” of the past, of a mobilization of all energies to finally “succeed in the bet” of food sovereignty
