Thanks to this $5 million financing granted by SEFA, AXIAN Energy will be able to develop new renewable energy projects on the African continent. Indeed, this support aims to advance projects in Côte d'Ivoire, Mauritius, Mauritius, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Zambia, and Madagascar. These projects will mainly focus on solar energy and hydroelectricity, two sustainable energy sources adapted to local needs
.The objective of this financing is to implement sustainable energy solutions that are accessible to all, and that respond to the realities of each territory. In Madagascar, AXIAN Energy is already a major player in extending access to electricity, especially in rural areas. Its actions also contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions and to diversifying the country's energy mix, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 7, which promotes access to reliable, sustainable and modern energy
for all.The funding comes from the Sustainable Energy Fund in Africa (SEFA), a program managed by the African Development Bank. The role of SEFA is to help develop solid projects by providing financial support at the early stages, which are often the most difficult to finance. “AXIAN Energy is a strong example of what local developers can achieve in the field of renewable energy,” said Kevin Kanina Kariuki, Vice President for Energy, Climate and Green Growth at the African Development Bank. He praised the strength of the company's recent investments in this sector.
