In a context of expanding domestic refining capacity and improving operational stability, Nigeria aims to produce 2 million barrels per day (bpd). The aim is to increase its OPEC+ crude oil production quota by 25% by 2027

.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL), led by the group's CEO, Bashir Ojulari, is campaigning for its OPEC+ reference production to increase from 1.5 million barrels per day to 2 million barrels per day. Nigeria's target production capacity is 2.4 million barrels per day, including 1.7 million barrels per day of crude and 300,000 barrels per day of condensate. Current production is around 1.4 million barrels per day of crude and 250,000 barrels per day of condensate, for a total of about 1.65 million barrels per day, well below its current quota. This request is part of an ongoing review by OPEC+ of members' maximum sustainable production capacities, which will determine the new quotas starting in 2027. Nigeria, which has struggled in recent years to meet its allocation due to infrastructure problems and operational setbacks, now claims to have resolved these problems and be able to maintain higher production levels. Beyond 2027, NNPCL forecasts that total production could reach 3 million bbl/d, including 2.5 million b/d of crude and 500,000 b/d of condensate, with an installed capacity reaching 3.5 million b/d of&# 39; three years from now.
